Or at least in "tearing out hair". THIS WAS SUCH A STUPID FUCKING PLAN. Like, at this point I will be turning in the shittiest rough drafts ever and then just editing like a madwoman for the next month. Which I guess will work? But is extremely personally disappointing. Also, I really hope y'all want to read some Homestuck, because I am currently in love with Rose Lalonde (knitting! irony! horrorterrors! teenage interspecies lesbian shenanigans!).

I just posted something to the AO3 and I feel weird about apparently being the first to use four of the eight tags I needed. I also feel weird about posting stuff to the AO3 that I wrote five years ago.

And hey! I don't need help right now, but in four-six weeks, I will be desperate for someone to help me tag-wrangle at least one of my big bangs. The femslash one's going to have character, relationship, fandom, and (SO MANY TYPES OF) content tags. [community profile] notwellbehaved had one less category than that and still made me want to cry tears of blood when it was the day before posting and, for example, I was having to check certain pairing tags story-by-story to make sure I added all of the "content: significant age difference"s I needed. The official big bang I might still get an official beta, but the second one definietly isn't eligible for the challenge support structure.

Any volunteers?

I should stop creating comms every time I think of a name I like.

Also, it's possible I'm doing two projects for [community profile] ladiesbigbang now, because "I Loved Her, And Sometimes She Loved Me" seems like an awesome title for a femslash recs set.

So now I'm reading Twilight fic, because I'm always going to want another "The peaceable kingdom". I'm basically just reading stuff of the TV Tropes rec page and most of it is hilariously anti-canon, which is the way I LIKE my Twilight fic. ETA: It's official, I kind of want Leah to set all these bastards on fire. Maybe the books aren't as creepy in this case? Because I'm getting a lot of "Leah can't have kids so she's broken and WILL NEVER HAVE LOVE and will also be a heinous bitch forever" and, um, FUCK YOU. Also, fuck imprinting.

Victorious fandom is making me sad, because there's no Jade/Tori to be found. It's all Cat/Jade and Tori/Cat and, y'all, Cat is like a teen, human, supernaive Trance Gemini (before the color swap) and I cannot deal with that character in a romantic or sexual context. Like, I managed a Trance/Harper fic once on the strength of my xenokink (prehensile tail!), but Cat does not have that going for her.

I am thinking about my big bang. Do I want to do forty or fifty stories and stick to a theme or do I want to go balls-out and shoot for the 150+ like last time? Honestly, the latter sounds kind of exhausting, but I have this thing about outperforming and the smug/glee might actually make it worth it.
strina: comics panel caption "wow, that's got to be an everything-went-wrong speed record!" (comics - speed record)
So I swore up and down last year, NEVER AGAIN, [community profile] ladiesbigbang, NEVER AGAIN!

But then the sign-ups-closing-soon post popped up on my reading page and well, it wasn't that bad, was it? (YES, YES, IT WAS.) But I could rec Time Braid and Brave Eyes and that Ariadne/Saito fic and - (BAD PLAN, YOU WILL HAVE REGRETS.) I'll just look at the guidelines; it says they changed them a lot!

The minimum number of recs for my round was 150. The minimum number of recs for this round is 40. Whaaaaaat.

So I'm totally signing up again, because I can do THAT.

(THIS IS WHERE IT ALL GOES WROOOOONG.)

Okay, so for those just tuning in, I've been working on a big female characters rec project for [community profile] ladiesbigbang and today is the day I unlock it for all to see! 160 recs in 74 fandoms, all about the ladies: you can go here for the index post or just start reading my recs at the comm [community profile] notwellbehaved.
strina: stock icon of cherries against a green background - default icon (Default)
Finally unlocking the project Sunday. It is now up to 160 recs (Inception has some awesome fic that people aren't reccing much because it's not Arthur/Eames - my big bang now contains two Mal/Dom, one Ariadne/Eames, and three Ariadne/Mal).

Have a few posts left to check tags/spelling on, but OMG, I am almost DONE WITH IT FOREVER. That is sounding very attractive right now. Nah, I'm mostly excited, just also exhausted.

Of course, I am kind of aghast at the idea of unlocking 160 posts on Sunday morning, but whatevs. Also, it looks totally weird to have everything in posts that are dated July 30 because I figured out how to spoof DW into letting me post 150+ template posts in about 2 minutes.
strina: reboot nyota uhura caption "honey, you couldn't handle half of my" (uhura - half of me)
I TOTALLY FINISHED MY BIG BANG. I mean, barely, and I still need to tweak the tags a LOT, but YAY.

[community profile] notwellbehaved: ~154 fic recs featuring ~187 women from ~70 fandoms (there may be more before I post, shut up). My posting date's September 19! Holy crap, unlocking all those posts is going to suuuuuck.

AND, THE REASON FOR THE POST: WE STILL NEED PEOPLE WHO'RE WILLING TO CREATE COMPLEMENTS. Complements can be anything other than the project's media! Most people did fic, but a few did podfic, graphics, meta, or multimedia projects, so for a complement, you could write or meta or vid or rec or podfic or do a soundtrack or ANYTHING. Pleeeeease?

HALP!

Does anyone know which White Collar fic had Elizabeth's POV on the asking Peter out when he was surveilling her? I remember there was a conversation with her roommate where the roommate told her what a bad idea it was to ask out a stalker. It was awesome and I want to rec it, because I just figured out that I'm reccing 69 fandoms and now I really, really want White Collar to make it an even 70.

One day. 58 recs.

I am so fucked.

Man, I keep thinking I've tagged everything I could ever tag on a rec and then I realize I forgot to tag "story status: complete" or the pairing or whatever. I KEEP HAVING TO RECHECK ALL OF THEM. MY EYES ARE TIRED.

Also it is almost the deadline and I am TOTALLY NOT DONE. Like, whatever, the stories are there, and linked, and I just keep agonizing over how many times I have used the word awesome so far (hint: a fuckload), and whether that quote is too spoilery, and I KIND OF WANT TO QUIT BUT AM TOO IRRITATED TO LET IT WIN.
strina: anonymous woman cropped to neck and shoulders caption appearing tattoo style as "you're going to have to save yourself." (save yourself)
Poking at the big bang and hey, I'm appending a resources post to the end; anyone have any awesome links for girl-centric fic? I've got ralst and some tags/collections on the AO3 and witchwinter and femslash09/etc. and halfamoon and femgenficathon and Twisting the Hellmouth and galpalficathon and ladiesbigbang and hermionebigbang and littlebang and the het id crack comm and I think some other stuff? But it's not exactly something you can have too much of, so more would be very much appreciated.

For two, how do you post with the community's icons instead of your icons? Can you? Because I would totally love to have at least one icon for each fandom, but I don't personally have enough slots for that.

For three, this project is not breaing down like I had expected. Right now it's f/f > gen > f/m > f/m/m > f/f/m > f/f/f (I had expected more het, less gen, and at least one f/m/m/m).

For four, content notes! I think I've got notes for most of the actually objectionable stuff, but I may be looking right past something hinky. I am also doing content notes as enticements/genre indicators. So! I am going to put the list of what I have behind the cut, and would love any suggestions.

Content notes as things stand. )

So I'm working on my big bang, and fandom, I love you. I just got to string together these tags:

content: kidnapping, content: psychics, content: slavery, content: space pirates, content: ust, fandom: [redacted], pairing: [redacted], rec status: complete, story status: complete, type: f/m/m

Also, Secret Goal #2 (50+ fandoms) was reached and surpassed. \o/

It is REALLY HARD to stop all these recs from reading "AWESOME LADY IS AWESOME IN AWESOME WAYS, GO READ NOW." Especially on the short character pieces.

Also, winnowing the list of Stories About Awesome Ladies down to 150 is kind of horrible; I keep getting the urge to just throw them in a big post and flail at people to go read ALL OF THEM, because HERMIONE AND VELMA AND JULES CALLAHAN AND FAITH AND CORDELIA AND BUFFY AND WILLOW AND DAWN AND RIVER AND ZOE AND INARA AND ILLYRIA AND FRED AND SARAH PEZZINI AND SARAH CONNOR AND SARAH WILLIAMS AND TOPH AND AZULA AND MAI AND TEYLA AND VALA AND CARLY AND POLLY AND CRISTINA AND ALEX RUSSO AND AISHA AND PENNY AND TAYLOR SWIFT (YES, REALLY) AND GRETA AND CARA AND MISS PARKER AND SAM CARTER AND SAM PUCKETT AND OMG, Y'ALL, THESE WOMEN. THESE WOMEN.

1. I LOVE THE BDSM 'VERSE. EVERY VERSION, FOR ALWAYS. WHERE IS THE MASTERLIST FOR THIS AWESOMENESS? MY VERY SOUL CRIES OUT FOR IT.

The BDSM 'verse, for those of you going WTF?, was originally created by Xanthe in The General and Dr. Sheppard (which I have some personal issues with), Coming Home (parts of which I ADORE, parts of which I have to scroll past very quickly, again because of personal stuff), and Hiding in Plain Sight (LOVE IT IN A VERY ID, VERY UNASHAMED WAY). In the 'verse, (nearly) everyone is bisexual and kinky as fuck, as in, they openly identify as dom or sub. There are heterosexuals, switches, and nondynamics, but they are very much in the minority. IT IS A SHARED 'VERSE, and gave rise Keira Marcos's Ties That Bind, aka, my very favoritest SGA fic AND one of my very favoritest kink fics (KINK COLLEGES! MID-SCENE HEALTH CHECKS! MAJOR CHARACTERS INVOLVED IN HET, FEMSLASH, SLASH, AND POLY, AND EVERY TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP IS TREATED EQUALLY RESPECTFULLY! OH, MY HEART! ♥♥♥). Keira's 'verse is slightly different, but it's on the same family tree, okay? Well, there are a lot of OTHER stories on that tree (the one where Rodney's a hooker! I LOVE THAT ONE) and every time I see one, I get very excited (I just found an ANGSTY NCIS ONE; HOPES ARE HIGH, Y'ALL).

Anyway, A++, DO RECOMMEND.

2. I am looking forward to August in perhaps an inappropriate way, because I have decided to make a tradition of last year's "amnesty month", aka, "fuck it, LINK DUMP TIME". (I am so close to actually making a post called Fuck It and filling it with 312 links, you guys don't even know, I DON'T EVEN REMEMBER *BEING* IN PRIMEVAL FANDOM AND YET HERE I AM, CODING LINKS FOR LIKE FOUR DIFFERENT PAIRINGS. Also making me flail in confusion: fairy tales, Jurassic Park, Liar Game, and Labyrinth (I HAVE NOT EVEN SEEN THAT SINCE I WAS SIX, WHY WAS I READING FIC?). I am like that telenovela-ish Bing commercial: "LOS LIIINKS!").

AUGUST: WHERE THE ONLY THEME IS "GET IT THE FUCK OFF MY COMPUTER".

3. I am having Big Bang Regrets, where I want to finish because yay for complements and a wider audience (progress, btw, is now at JESUS CHRIST IT'S A LION GET IN THE CAR!), yet I also don't want to finish? Because some of my favorite stories about ladies are a guy's POV on a lady/group of ladies, or het fics that are only 50-65% About the Lady (like, I am wavering about the Compelled 'verse, y'know, the "Illyria is awesome and decides to take over the multiverse" story, because the main POVs are Illyria, Buffy, and Wesley, and what if that's Too Much Dude?, even though it's a story primarily about women kicking ass?), and those are apparently not things I should be reccing for this? Basically, the rules of the challenge are kind of making me feel like some Bechdel fic does, like artificially erasing an entire gender from the conversation isn't any more awesome just because this time it's happening to the half with penises. I mean, lady-centric fic, YAY, but "lady in the spotlight" doesn't have to mean men are entirely absent from the stage. IDK, it's one of those things where it's a lot easier to strike that 75& balance writing than it is reccing, and also a lot easier if you do more femslash/gen and less het/threesomes, but I am reccing, and I do want to rec gen and femslash and het and threesomes*, and so I am cranky.

*Secret goal: more fem-centric poly always.

Oh man, I hope this doesn't turn into my first round of [livejournal.com profile] rec50 all over again...98 recs in two days was a terrible plan (I only managed 88).

Anyway. Currently signed up for:

[community profile] ladiesbigbang. Deadline: August 1. Minimum: 150 recs.

[community profile] kink_bingo. Deadline: August 31. Minimum for a bingo: 50 recs.

[community profile] hc_bingo. Deadline: December 31. Minimum for a bingo: 50 recs.

[livejournal.com profile] au_bingo. Deadline: January 31. Minimum for a bingo: 50 recs.

I am signed up to do a recs set for [community profile] ladiesbigbang. Reccing at a comm where I don't set the deadlines? Madness! But it could be fun. And I could get a complementary work!

Sign-ups are open 'til the 30th; y'all should check it out.
