Some Patterns Are Weird and Dumb and Irresistable. Also, Rec Me.

So I'm cycling through fandoms really rapidly right now? Thinking about it, I seem to do this in reaction to dissatisfaction with the current big fandom of my life (SGA, Smallville, Teen Wolf, etc.). It's like taking a break from your SO and having a bunch of one night stands.

At one point, I basically did have a one night stand with SG1. I still ship Jack/Daniel so hard, you guys. I spent like four hours making ebooks. So much Biblio. So much whump.

Also, I triplemegaheart the AO3 now and forever, but I forgot how much I enjoyed some single fandom archives. Area 52 lets you filter out all of the first person POV fics! I want that option everywhere, all the time. And they let you filter to specific episode spoilers, which is obviously not widely feasible, but still pretty friggin' great.

The best feature I've never seen anywhere else is still Twisting the Hellmouth's story tracker, though. IT TELLS YOU WHAT CHAPTER YOU LEFT OFF AT ON EVERY WIP YOU'VE REGISTERED AS SOMETHING YOU'RE READING. IF YOU SUB AN AUTHOR, IT TELLS YOU WHICH STORIES YOU'VE READ AND WHICH YOU HAVEN'T. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

I saw Rise of the Guardians while I was housesitting and it was a pretty good movie! So obviously I immediately went looking for porn.

There are two main pairings and one is about an undead amnesiac teenage-appearing frost sprite who's been isolated for three centuries and an evil golden-eyed British-sounding dude who feeds on fear and can control shadows and corrupted dreamsand in a way that can very much mimic tentacles. Also there is a tragic backstory (legendary warrior and general! lost child! corrupted/possessed by the very evil he fought, it's all very "he who fights monsters") and HE LITERALLY ASKS JACK TO RULE THE WORLD WITH HIM (WHAT GOES TOGETHER BETTER THAN COLD AND DARK?) BASED ON THEIR LEGIT CONNECTION OF BEING IGNORED/NEGLECTED/DISTRUSTED BY BASICALLY EVERYONE. The other pairing is the frost sprite and the last surviving Pooka, aka, giant humanoid bunny. So I ship the fuck out of Pitch/Jack (cold and dark!) and my xenokink enjoys Bunny/Jack. A+ small fandom, basically.

And now I'm having a Glee thing again? I just really love Kurt a lot, okay, and so I am currently reading a shit-ton of Kurt/anyone that isn't Blaine, PLEASE REC ME SOMETHING.

I just read like a 150,000 words of Kurt/Sebastian because the anti-Klaine tag is really attractive. I was going to reference the porridge analogy, but it turns out I never unprivated that entry, so it will be reproduced at the bottom of the post! Basically, I am VERY YES on Kurt/Puck and Kurt/Karofsky and okay, sure on Kurt/Adam and Kurt/Sebastian and Kurt/Starchild and LAST RESORT on Kurt/Blaine for several reasons, but one of the big ones is the perennial ship problem of me fangirling the hell out of one character and a lot of people fanning the hell out of the other character.

Appropriate segue is appropriate.

Awww, 2012. Reproduced unedited!

Ugh, Glee fandom, you are the worst. I just, Rachel Berry honestly makes me want to break out into hives 90% of the time, it is like my utter Britta antipathy, which, let's not even talk about unpopular fannish opinions and how incredibly exclusionary they can feel when everyone talks about being a crazy britta-wife because she is them okay, when I'm over here with nothing but annie-feels, because hi, smart and crazy and fucking aced high school academically but so much socially and then had a messy and embarrassing nervous breakdown and now my whole life tastes of failure? THAT IS MUCH MORE MY SPEED THAN AWKWARDLY AGGRESSIVE ACTIVISM.

Rachel Berry! She is just so awful. Like, interesting things can be done with her and she does have some legit great moments, but the overwhelming majority of the time, I would straight like to punch her in the face. Also Blaine! On-show, I was very glad to get a Blaine? And seriously, the Urie-Wentz timetravelling baby theory is dear to my heart, but, uh. He is like eating porridge. Good for you! Smells great! Sometimes it even tastes really good, but a lot of the time, it just turns out to be fucking lumpy and beige - fucking porridge, basically. So I read a lot of Puck/Kurt, of which there is not shit-tons now that there is canon gay, and even some fucking Kurt/Karofsky, because there is angst and size-kink and I can mostly filter out the skeeve, oh god the skeeve. But there's also a lot of fucking porridge.

TEEN WOLF, HAVE MORE FIC. NOW. FISHBOWLIIIIIIIIIIING.

ALSO, I REMAIN CONSTITUTIONALLY INCAPABLE OF DEALING WITH ERIC AND CHARLES NOT GETTING THEIR SHIT TOGETHER. WILD SWANS AND TELEPATHS, I CANNOT EVEN, FIIIIIX IIIIIIT.

ALSO, PRU BREAKS MY HEART AND MAKES ME LIKE IT AND COME BACK OVER AND OVER SO SHE CAN DO IT SOME MORE, ACCEPTABLE JOY, WHAT IS THAT EVEN.

ALSO, I GIVE LIKE 1.3 SHITS ABOUT STEVE ROGERS AND 5453143515456 SHITS ABOUT TONY STARK AND HIS ROBOT ARMY, BUT THAT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE FANDOM'S FEELING AND THAT MAKES ME SAD. THE CAPSICLE IS NOT A SPECIAL UNICORN. TONY STARK ON THE OTHER HAND HAS CLEARLY BUILT A MECHANICAL UNICORN AT SOME POINT, DON'T LIE, IT WAS TINY AND IT WENT IN PEPPER'S STOCKING AND THE LASER WAS PROBABLY A BAD CALL, BUT HORSE WITH A SWORD ON ITS HEAD NEEDED SOMETHING SO IT DIDN'T GET BEATEN UP AT RECESS BY ALL THE OTHER ROBOTS.

ALSO BRUCE BANNER IS AMAZING AND NATASHA ROMANOV IS AMAZING AND I GUESS CLINT BARTON TOO, ALTHOUGH CLEARLY NOT AS MUCH AS DARCY LEWIS. BRUCE IS FOR TONY, THOUGH (CLINT AND DARCY AND NATASHA CAN DO AS THEY LIKE AMONG THEMSELVES. PLEASE?).

ALSO ALSO ALSO, I FORGOT I HADN'T MENTIONED. I NOW OWN THE VMARS MOVIE AND I WATCHED SIX TIMES BEFORE I HAD TO STOP BECAUSE THERE'S NOT ENOUGH GOOD VERONICA/LOGAN LONGFIC* AND IT WAS BECOMING A PROBLEM IN MY LIFE. I SHIP IT SO HARD THAT IT HURTS ME A LITTLE.

*IF ANYONE NEEDS RECS, I AM HERE FOR YOU. ROB THOMAS BASICALLY CREATED A CONTROLLED DETONATION OF ALL MY FEELS DISGUISED AS A MOVIE.

I hear you on the unpopular fannish opinions thing. It's especially hard when one's feels are not in parallel with the people whose fic one generally lives. :/

(Translation: I could not give tuppence for Bucky Barnes. Oops.)

Anyway! Logan/Veronica longfic recs you say? Care to share? :)

My favorite Pitch Black/Jack Frost story is the Shadows and Light series. It's long and has a rather interesting plot.

I've been looking for more Jack/Bunny stories but none have appealed to me as much as Pitch/Jack. I guess I really have a thing for enemies becoming friends/lovers.

I keep dipping into RotG fic, and I really enjoy Jack/Bunny but I find myself being scared away by the feeling that all the authors are 12 years old. (The quality of the writing can sometimes be very good and mature, but the content of the stories is often very young for me.)

I'm hoping that the second movie comes out and sparks a whole new slew of fic written by people in their mid-20s or 30s or something.

Or just more fic. I love wallowing in Jack's angst and pain and nobody loved me forever, but there comes a point when it has to be fixed and addressed without stomping off like a three year old, or I just can't read it anymore.

Many of the fics in RoTG fandom are bad. I'm also hoping they make a sequel and hopefully more people discover the series.

I hadn't realized the movie was based off a series of books until I looked for the fandom. I kind of wish the show went into the mythology of this universe a bit more. It sounds fascinating.

Or at least by the time a sequel comes out, all the fanfic authors have grown up a bit and been writing other things in the meantime and honed their craft.

I haven't read Little Boy Blue, do you have the link? I was also hoping the author would write more about Pitch and Jack, instead she wrote this epic story called Game Theory with Gwyn ap Nudds/Augus Each Uisge as the pairing. I haven't read it yet but I am intrigued.
